I have no competition. Absolutely none! Except myself.

I have learnt that the race is not to the swift”. The world has all these systems that rank people, putting those who are ‘better’ ahead of every other person. They celebrate and even hand out prizes and awards to those who they feel have done well in their fields. Don’t get me wrong I believe in meritocracy, I believe people should be rewarded for hard work, diligence and excellence. But the mistake I think people make is they tie their life’s worth and/or meaning to these rewards but the issue with that is if you live for people’s acceptance you’ll die from their rejection.

We must find our worth in something greater or, as in my case, in Someone greater. We were all born to run, to run this race called Life but we must also recognise that our Callings is not the same as competing with our fellow Man. I love sports, I love its competitive nature. I love seeing my favourite team win. But for me I think that’s where it should end. If you live your life thinking everyone is an opponent you may just end up winning and having no one to celebrate your ‘victories’. True victories come when you’ve won at everything.

Run the race of life aiming to finish strong. Let your aim be to have exhausted all that God asked you to be and to do. So that at the end of your life’s race you can say “I’ve finished the race”. Personally, I my goals are Joy and Glory and these two virtues in their purest form, Man cannot give me!

Your life’s purpose and all its pursuits must be so great that you recognise no one can offer its prize to you.

What are you chasing? To be № 1? Money? Fame? All these things will pass bro. Live for something greater. Life is not a competition but a race, life is also a journey savour it!
